VIRGINIA BLOND TOBACCO
It is named after the American state of Virginia where it was first cultivated.
It is also called "blond tobacco" because of its yellow-orange colour due to the hot-air curing process, which makes the product easier to handle.
BURLEY TOBACCO
The Burley tobacco plant can reach a height of 1.5 m, and its green colour before harvest is slightly lighter than that of Virginia tobacco.
Burley tobacco requires heavy soils and stronger fertilizers than Virginia tobacco.
After harvesting, most of the sugar is extracted by the air-drying process.
This gives the tobacco its characteristic brown colour.
